Engagement: Amanda Marie Smith and Coleman Derek Branyon

Tony and Myra Smith and Dean and Carolyn Branyon, all of Westminster, S.C., are proud to announce the engagement of their children, Amanda Marie Smith and Coleman Derek Branyon, both of Westminster.

The bride-elect is a graduate of West-Oak High School and is employed at MountainView Medical Imaging and Carolina Styles Family Hair Salon.

The groom-elect is a graduate of West-Oak High School and Tri-County Technical College and is employed at Lift Technologies, Inc.

The wedding is planned for January 17, 2009 at Calvary Church of God in Westminster.

Wedding: Lisa Kathryn Bruce and Neil Warren Carney

Lisa Kathryn Bruce and Neil Warren Carney were united in marriage on April 5, 2008 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Toccoa, Ga. with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. A reception followed at North Georgia Technical College Currahee Campus.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Mary B. Bruce and the late Mr. Donald Bruce of Toccoa. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bertschin of Toccoa and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jones Bruce of Martin, Ga. She is a graduate of Piedmont College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and is employed by UHS-Pruitt Corporation in Toccoa as a senior accountant.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Basil W. Carney Jr. of Seneca, S.C. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. Hite of Seneca and Mrs. Evelyn Carney and the late Mr. Basil W. Carney of Richmond, Va. He is a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and is employed by Anderson County Finance Department as a principle financial analyst in Anderson, S.C.

The bride’s maid of honor was Emily Carney, sister of the groom, of Seneca. Bridesmaids were Gina Weaver, friend of the bride, of Canon, Ga. and Wendy Dawkins, cousin of the bride, of Toccoa.
Basil W. Carney Jr., father of the groom, served as best man. The groomsmen were Robert T. Harris III, cousin of the groom, of Westminster, S.C. and Robert Blackwell, friend of the groom, of Bluffton, S.C. Ushers were friends of the groom, Michael Dupre of Columbia, S.C. and Dennis Hawkins of Goose Creek, S.C.

Following a honeymoon to Maui, Hawaii, the couple resides in Seneca.
