One millionth Bloom shopper uses kiosk

August 8, 2007 - 12:00 a.m. EST

SALISBURY, N.C. — The one millionth shopper has stocked up on grocery tips provided by a unique information kiosk in Bloom supermarkets. The interactive station provides suggestions for meal planning and wine and cheese pairings, as well as more than 2,000 recipes, a price checker, an item locator, and interactive kids’ games. In addition to other options, shoppers can upload their grocery list from their home computer and simply print it out on an informational kiosk in any Bloom store.

On average, there are six “getting info is a breeze” kiosks in each of the chain’s 52 stores. The kiosks are typically located throughout the supermarket in or near departments such as produce, meat, wine, and organic/natural foods.

ShoptoCook, the Buffalo, N.Y.-based manager of the kiosk network, logs about 25,000 shopper interactions per week for Bloom. The identity of the one millionth shopper is not known.
