August 18, 2007 - 12:00 a.m. EST

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer its newest safe boating course to the public either on Sept. 15 (Piedmont) or Oct. 20 (Keowee Key Marina Activity Center).

Both courses will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the cost will be $30 per student. A textbook and CD-rom will be provided to each student.

The course on Sept. 15 will be at the Living Sanctuary Church in Piedmont. For more information on this class, contact Ken Bruning at (864) 297-5397 or Ronny Merritt at (864) 232-7575.

The class on Oct. 20 will be at the Keowee Key Marina Villa Activity Center. For more information on this class, contact Jim Rudy at (864) 972-2085.

America’s Boating Course is a one-day course designed for the beginner and experienced boater or personal watercraft operator.

The course is fun and very comprehensive. The course has been approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators. Course completion generally equates to a reduction in your boating insurance premiums from most insurance companies.
