SENECA — Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, is the last chance this year to enjoy a Tootsie Roll and to support Operation HOPE in helping local mentally handicapped students and citizens. Council 6884 of the Knights of Columbus, along with many volunteers, will be in front of various community-minded stores, distributing Tootsie Rolls and accepting contributions.
Teachers at local schools in Oconee, western Pickens and northern Anderson counties and at the Tribble Center in Seneca and Camp HOPE in Clemson, use the funds they receive from Operation HOPE to purchase materials and complete projects that would otherwise go wanting for lack of public funds. Small donations from thousands of people can make a big difference to the lives of almost 1,000 local mentally handicapped citizens. Look for Knights in their yellow and red aprons when you shop this weekend.
