ANDERSON — A Norris woman died at the scene of an Interstate 85 wreck while a Central man was in critical condition Friday.
Heather Elaine Chappell, a 21-year-old from 801 Norris Highway, died from blunt force trauma near the Clemson Boulevard exit of I-85 in Anderson County. She was the passenger of a Harley Davidson driven by Kevin Glenn Kennemore, 33, from 472 Patterson St.
Kennemore’s motorcycle traveled north on I-85 around 1:30 a.m. to merge with traffic when it cut through the grass median and struck the right front trailer portion of a truck registered to Bi-Lo, said South Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson Lance Cpl. Kathy Hiles.
Chappell leaves behind two children, ages 1 and 3, said Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore. Kennemore, who was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital, is an acquaintance of Chappell, Shore said.
Kennemore was in critical condition at Greenville Friday afternoon, Shore said. Troopers continued their investigation Friday, Hiles said.
