CLEMSON — Clemson will play host to Coastal Carolina on October 31, 2009, the two schools announced Wednesday. It will be the first meeting between Clemson and Coastal Carolina on the gridiron.
Coastal Carolina is coached by David Bennett, a graduate assistant coach at Clemson from 1984-86 under Danny Ford. He will be one of two former Clemson assistants who will bring teams to Death Valley in 2009. Former Tiger assistant Coach Rick Stockstill will bring his Middle Tennessee team to Death Valley as well.
Clemson also has non-conference games with Central Michigan and South Carolina scheduled for the 2009 season. In ACC play, Clemson will face Wake Forest, Florida State, Boston College and Virginia at home and will travel to Maryland, NC State, Georgia Tech and Miami (FL).
The 2010 non-conference schedule will begin a run of seven straight years in which Clemson will play at least two SEC schools on its non-conference schedule. Clemson will meet Auburn in 2010 and 2011, Vanderbilt in 2012 and 2013, Georgia in 2013 and 2014 and Mississippi in 2015 and 2016. Clemson will play South Carolina in each of these years as well. Clemson will face three SEC teams in 2013.
