CLEMSON — When the Clemson baseball team takes the field in 2009, it will be without their top pitcher from this past season, as junior right-hander D.J. Mitchell has signed with the New York Yankees, according to multiple reports.

Mitchell was a 10th-round pick by the Yankees, and Baseball America reported that he collected a $400,000 signing bonus.
