WALHALLA — Two local law enforcement agencies teamed up Tuesday to arrest a man they charged with multiple drug offenses.

Following a bevy of complaints by residents about drug deals taking place at Walhalla Garden Apartments, Oconee County Sheriff’s Office agents and Walhalla Police Department investigators arrested the man they think is behind much of the illegal drug activity in the community.

As a result of undercover work, authorities said they entered an apartment at the housing complex where they located Doug Nicholson in an apartment with drugs. Nicholson is no stranger to law enforcement.

“This is the third time we’ve dealt with him this year,” said Sheriff’s Lt. Ken Washington of the narcotics and vice division.

In fact, Washington said Nicholson was out on bail waiting to be tried on other charges.

“He’s been pushing a lot of drugs in the community,” Washington said. “I feel we’ve gotten enough on him so we can put him away for a while.”

The 46-year-old Nicholson was charged with distribution of marijuana, conspiracy to distribute marijuana, trafficking methamphetamines, possession with intent to distribute and possession of controlled substances.

Washington said officers went into an apartment where they found Nicholson with 28 grams of methamphetamines, several ounces of marijuana and prescription pills.

Authorities credit an undercover operation for getting access to what they call an “organization.” Washington said more arrests are likely.

“We feel there are other people involved,” Washington said.
