Amber Miller competes in the South Carolina High School finals at T. Ed Garrison Arena.
CLEMSON — Amber Miller and Cody Miller, daughter and son of Randy and Tammy Miller of Westminster, both competed at the South Carolina High School Finals at T. Ed Garrison Arena held May 29 through 31.
Amber, a graduate of West-Oak High School, won third place in Goat Tying. She won the first round with a 10.44, second round with a 12.908 and the third round with a 9.551, which helped her and she won the goat tying for all three nights. Amber went into the state finals sitting in 10th place. Not knowing what was ahead of her and with all the determination she had in her heart, she won. She had 287.5 points in all.
Cody Miller, an 11th grader of Foothills Accountability Home School Association, was named the South Carolina Bareback State Champion and fifth in Bull Riding. This will be his second year qualifying for the Nationals in Bareback Riding.
Cody and Amber have both qualified to go to Nationals July 20 through 26 to be held in Farmington, New Mexico.
