SIX MILE — The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of 15 gallons of gasoline from a pontoon boat owned by a Six Mile man, as well as damages sustained to the watercraft.

According to the incident report, the victim told investigators he had been out of town for two weeks when he returned to his Sue Craig Road residence and attempted to take the boat out on the water. He added that the boat only went about 300 yards before it stopped running.

The report stated that the man discovered that the fuel line had been tampered with and the locking clip removed. The man told sheriff’s deputies that 15 gallons of gasoline had been stolen and that the wiring harness for the depth finder, speedometer and thermometer had been damaged.

A flashlight, belonging to one of the suspects and discovered during the investigation, was handed over to a sheriff’s deputy for fingerprint identification.

The report stated that the victim informed officers that the gasoline was removed sometime between June 28 and July 11. Although sheriff’s officials believe more than one individual was involved in the theft and damages, the report stated that there are no suspects at this time.
