PICKENS — Warrants have been obtained by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a burned vehicle discovered in the Six Mile area May 26.

An investigation revealed that Brittany L. Yongue, 18, and Leann M. Sutherland, age not given, both of Six Mile, took the vehicle without the owner’s permission while in Greenville. Investigators say the vehicle was later taken to Kelly Mill Road, where Phillip S. Towe of Six Mile and Nicholas S. Barrett of Liberty set fire to the vehicle.

Barrett sustained injuries from the fire and was subsequently transported by relatives to Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Easley and subsequently airlifted to the burn center in Augusta, Ga. He was subsequently released but is still being treated for his injuries.

Sheriff’s officials issued a warrant against Yongue for misprison of a felony and that investigation also led to warrants issued against Jeremy B. Millard, of Liberty, for three charges of blackmail. Millard was arrested by the Sheriff’s office June 3 for an unrelated incident and subsequently charged with blackmail. He was released on $11,500 surety bond June 6.

Towe, who was also arrested, is awaiting a bond hearing.

Sheriff’s officials said other warrants have yet to be served but that arrangements have been made for the subjects to turn themselves in to the Sheriff’s office.
