HILTON HEAD — The Pendleton High School baseball team lost to the host Hilton Head team 5-2 on Wednesday at the Hilton Head Spring Break Tournament on Hilton Head Island.
Brandon Burton (3-1) allowed 9 hits and 5 runs over 6.0 innings on the mound for the Bulldogs to take his first loss of the season. Brent Leopard was a bright spot at the plate for Pendleton – going 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Pendleton plays again in tournament action this morning at 10 a.m., taking on Beaufort in the seventh-place game.

SALEM — The Tamassee-Salem High School baseball team made seven costly errors and fell to Ware Shoals, 10-4, Wednesday in Salem.
Garrett Peak allowed just 6 hits and 3 earned runs on his way to a complete game but took the loss on the mound for the Eagles. Brooks Garrett had a double at the dish for Tamassee-Salem.
The Eagles (2-7) will host Dixie today at 6 p.m. in their next game.

WESTMINSTER — The West-Oak High School softball team suffered just its second region loss of the season, falling 6-2 to Abbeville on Wednesday in Westminster.
Heather Yoder scored both of the Warriors runs in the game, and Lacey Teague had an RBI.
West-Oak (8-5, 4-2 Skyline AA) is back on the diamond on Saturday, playing in a tournament at Liberty High School.

SENECA — Seneca High School’s Miller Capps fired a nine-hole score of 35 to take individual medalist honors, but the Bobcats lost by one stroke to Pickens – though they did beat rival Daniel – on Tuesday at Cross Creek Plantation in Seneca.
Pickens finished with a total team score of 175, Seneca totaled 176, and the Lions shot a combined 201.
Matt Blackwell shot a 41 to lead Pickens, while Daniel’s top score was by Nathan Sitamaran, who shot a 47.
Seneca’s record is now 7-2 overall and 3-2 in Western AAA competition, while the Lions fell to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in region play.
