EASLEY — Peoples National Bank will host its 23rdAnnual Golf Tournament May 13 at Smithfields Country Club in Easley.

Contributions to Pickens County charities from the annual tournament have totaled in excess of a quarter of a million dollars over the last 22 years.

Registration will open at 11 a.m. with lunch being served at 11:30. Shotgun start will be at noon. The tournament is open to the first 25 teams of four players. Registration deadline is May 2.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Pickens County Habitat for Humanity and the Alzheimer’s Association — South Carolina Chapter.

This year, Peoples National Bank is making a special three-year pledge of $15,000 or half of the proceeds of the golf tournament, whichever is greater to go to Habitat for Humanity.

The Alzheimer’s Association provides supportive programs and services to help people with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers deal with the disease and its impact on their lives.

“We are extremely grateful and honored to be a recipient,” said Marjorie George, Program Director for Greenville, Laurens and Pickens counties with the Alzheimer’s Association.

“One of the goals of the Peoples National Bank’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament is to create awareness and build support for organizations that are making a profound difference in our neighborhoods,” said Howard Greene, executive vice-president and city executive, Peoples National Bank. “We are delighted to provide our resources and extensive promotional and volunteer efforts behind such important and vital community organizations.”

The cost of a foursome team is $400 and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, unlimited driving range use, golf balls, tees and beverage carts on golf course. Corporate sponsorships range from a tee sponsor of $100 to a foursome Corporate Sponsor at $1,000.

“Getting involved in the Peoples National Bank’s Charity Golf Tournament is a great opportunity for a corporation to financially support a worthwhile cause, but more importantly, it demonstrates a company’s leadership within the community,” said Jim Blakely, tournament chairman.
