Three things to know
Georgia Tech is averaging 7.6 runs per game and hitting .305 with a .534 slugging percentage. The team has also totaled 106 doubles, 11 triples, and 83 homers. Georgia Tech is tied for sixth in the nation in home runs.
Clemson has an RPI of No. 32 according to WarrenNolan.com. The Tigers have also played the nation’s toughest schedule according to the same Web site. Of Clemson’s 49 games, 43 have been against teams in the top-119 of the RPI.
Four current Clemson baseball players will graduate today, including pitcher William Bond (marketing), catcher Doug Hogan (financial management), pitcher Brock Schnabel (financial management), and catcher Adam Ward (economics). Former pitcher Drew Fiorenza (accounting), who lettered at Clemson in 2005 and 2006, will also receive his degree.
Probable Pitchers:
Game 1: Clemson: RHP D.J. Mitchell (5-3, 3.17) vs. Ga. Tech: LHP David Duncan (6-2, 4.18)
Game 2: Clemson: RHP Graham Stoneburner (5-3, 4.52) vs. Ga. Tech: RHP Eddie Burns 5-4, 5.79)
Game 3: Clemson: RHP Trey Delk (1-1, 3.90) vs. Ga. Tech: RHP Zach Von Tersch (6-3, 3.39)
Bottom line: This is it. Win three straight and they are in the ACC Tournament. Lose three straight, and they might be out. Do anything in between and who knows?
