WALHALLA — Both a former aide to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham accused of pilfering his campaign chest and a man charged with killing his live-in girlfriend will make court appearances this week with guilty pleas seemingly forthcoming.

Mary Jennifer Adams, who first worked for Graham during his 1994 campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives, is scheduled to make a court appearance Thursday. She is accused of siphoning about $215,000 from Graham’s campaign fund during a six-year period from 2002 through 2007.

Adams was indicted in March on five counts of breach of trust with fraudulent intent and a single count of financial identity fraud.

Graham’s office terminated Adams on June 19, 2007, after an internal review of the campaign’s financial records uncovered she had made more than 90 unauthorized disbursements. Six months later, Adams was arrested in Oconee County on Dec. 14, the same day she turned 50.

For his part, Barry Lee Jackson is accused of causing the death of 30-year-old Kimberly Anne Parker in April. An autopsy showed the woman died of blunt force head trauma. He is scheduled to make a court appearance today.

The Tenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office announced the two court appearances Tuesday, but declined to say whether Adams and Jackson would enter guilty pleas this week.

Contacted at his Seneca home Tuesday, the father of Kimberly Parker, Larry Parker, said he and his wife, Hilda, would be in court for Jackson’s proceedings. Parker declined any further comment.

Circuit Judge J. Cordell Maddox is presiding over general session court this week.

At the time of his arrest in April, Jackson already was facing other charges. In 2007, he was arrested for allegedly receiving stolen goods and for possessing narcotics.

Investigators say Jackson and the victim had been living together for about two weeks at the time of the alleged homicide. When Parker was rushed to Oconee Medical Center, emergency responders thought the woman was in coronary distress. However, an autopsy later showed she died from head trauma.

Here's another example of eye-rolling product from our local daily. This article makes it sound like Adams and Jackson are co-defendentsat at some upcoming legal proceeding.
Am I crazy or picky, or both?
