WALHALLA - County Administrator Dale Surrett got an early Christmas present Tuesday night in the form of a fervent vote of confidence and a four-year contract extension from the Oconee County Council.
Council Chairman George Blanchard unwrapped the gift for Surrett while bringing up new business.
"Annually, it is the role of the county council to review the work of the administrator," Blanchard said. "He has been a great asset to this county, and we do not want to lose him."
Blanchard said the new contract for Surrett runs through July 8, 2012.
