For the fifth consecutive year, Oconee County First Steps is sponsoring the âWarm a Child for the Winterâ project during âMake a Difference Monthâ in October.
New blankets of all types, including baby blankets, knitted throws and single and double blankets, are being solicited from local agencies, businesses, companies, organizations, churches, individuals and the community at large. Those items can be dropped off at the United Way of Oconee County, located at 409 East North First St. in Seneca, through Oct. 31.
All donated blankets will be divided between Oconee A.I.D. in Walhalla; Bethesda Ministries in Seneca; and âWe Care Ministriesâ in Westminster. In turn, those charities will distribute the items to needy families with children birth to age 6 during the winter months.
Additional information concerning the âWarm a Child for the Winterâ project or First Steps can be obtained by calling Marie M. Dunnam at (864) 882-3236 or (864) 985-4357 or Sandra Pruitt at (864) 882-3130.
