SENECA — The disappearance of Bounty Land Finance Inc. owner James Thomas Orr continues to stump authorities searching for the 62-year-old businessman and baffle family members praying for his safe return.

Four days since his wife of 26 years reported Orr missing Monday, a thorough search in the vicinity of the man’s West Union home has failed to turn up any clues as to his whereabouts or hints of foul play.

The doors to Bounty Land Finance were kept open Thursday by Orr’s daughter, Jennifer Wilson, who runs the business with her father. Wilson spends a good deal of the days answering phone calls from friends and acquaintances hoping to hear good news.

Choking back tears, Wilson said the community’s many prayers for her father’s safe return have moved her.

“He is well liked, and we don’t know of anyone who would want to do him harm,” Wilson said.

Wilson last saw her father Saturday. She went to his home, 115 Mountain Springs Road in West Union, to pick up her daughters, who had been spending time with their grandfather. Wilson said her father was in good spirits, except for a cold he was nursing. She said he even kidded about how she had given him the cold.

According to Wilson, her father was home Sunday night when her mother returned to their home after a church service. She said that when her mother retired for the night, her father was playing cards on the computer in another room, as he would often do.

The next morning, Wilson said, her mother noticed that her father was not at the table watching the morning news as he usually does. When she did not see him anywhere and his car was still at the house, she called for help.

Wilson said more than 100 volunteers searched for her father Monday until evening. She said law enforcement continued the search with tracking dogs until well past midnight.

Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Crenshaw said investigators are looking at telephone records, bank accounts and e-mails hoping to find clues.

“As of this time, (investigators) have not discovered anything that leads us to think foul play is involved,” Crenshaw said, adding that Orr’s name was entered into a national database as being missing.

Anyone with information that could help find Orr is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (864) 638-4111. Also, Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that could help find Orr. A caller may remain anonymous by calling (864) 638-STOP.
