Trio of incumbents gets business backing

October 11, 2008 - 12:00 a.m. EST

The National Federation of Independent Business has endorsed candidates in 29 state legislative races, including three Upstate incumbents.

Gaining support were Senator Thomas Alexander and State Representatives B.R. Skelton in District 3 and Don Bowen in District 8.

“Small business is the cornerstone of South Carolina’s economy, so it’s important that we have a Legislature that supports free enterprise,” said Wendy Homeyer state director of NFIB/South Carolina. “The National Federation of Independent Business supports candidates who support small business, regardless of party affiliation.

“These candidates clearly understand that small business owners need better access to affordable healthcare and believe fiscal responsibility, a sensible workers’ compensation system and less regulation are important to our future,” Homeyer said.
