SENECA — A Habitat for Humanity (HFH) house built by the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Oconee County for Angela Craft and her family at 201 Tribble St. in Seneca will be dedicated Oct. 24.

The house is a NAHB Green Building Certified and Energy Star Rated home that will help reduce the energy bills of the homeowner.

“We want to thank the Home Builders Association of Oconee County for building another Habitat for Humanity House in Seneca. We are inviting all HBA volunteers to join us for the dedication and a BBQ lunch as our way of saying thanks for their hard work,” said Oconee County HFH President Rick McRae, adding that the event will begin at noon.

"The Homebuilders Association of Oconee is excited to have partnered up with Habitat for Humanity for the second year in a row in providing a house for a family in need,” said David Gully, president and owner of Central Contracting Corporation and president of the HBA of Oconee County. “We cannot think of another charitable organization in which the homebuilding industry can have a more direct and immediate impact. It really makes you feel good to see the overwhelming support from our members by helping with such a great cause. I want to personally thank everyone who took time away from their family and businesses to help make this project successful."

“We are especially grateful to David Gully for coordinating the project and to Benjie Arnold and Mike Dix from Central Contracting Corporation for supervising and putting in a lot of hours to get the job done in a timely manner,” said Rick McRae.

A number of community businesses contributed time and material for the home's construction.

In 2008, OCHFH dedicated six homes in Seneca and Fair Play and a total of 66 since 1986. It has broken ground on two additional homes in Westminster. Those will be completed early in 2009.
