GREENWOOD — Swarms of young men and women, most of whom were born in 1990, descended on the Lander University campus Saturday along with friends and family. These freshmen were making a new home at Lander, as their loved ones said goodbye, leaving them with best wishes for their first year of college. In all, 483 freshmen moved into residence halls across the Lander campus, just in time for the start of the fall semester. The new students and their families were aided in the task of moving in by 150 volunteers consisting of Lander students, faculty, staff, athletes and alums. Lander biology major Alondra Guerra of Seneca, was in the group of freshmen making a new home at Lander’s Brookside residence hall.
