Mike Kendrick is a freshman academy teacher teaching Global Studies/World History, as well as coaching football and golf at West-Oak High School.

Kendrick is also 1992 graduate of West-Oak High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education and Elementary Education and a Masters from U.S. Sports Academy in Sports Management. Originally, he was attending Clemson for an engineering degree and was also a substitute teacher. While substituting, Kendrick knew what he wanted to do. “I knew that’s where I needed to be and I credit that to Joe Bryant, my U.S. History teacher in high school,” he says.

Kendrick has been teaching at West-Oak for 12 years and coaching for 15. While attending Clemson, he was a volunteer coach for the baseball team for three years.

He says the most rewarding thing about his profession is hearing the kids say thank you for helping them get an education.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Michelle, and traveling.
