Tharwat Alasadi
CLEMSON The Syrian woman held by immigration officials for overstaying her visa while teaching Arabic at Clemson University is out on bond but must return to Syria.
Taiyo Davis posted a $5,000 bond to have his wife, Tharwat Alasadi, released from jail Wednesday.
Alasadi was in the country on a Fulbright program that required her to return to Syria for two years. Davis says his wife applied for a waiver to remain in the United States because her visa expired in May.
She was arrested last month at the couple's apartment and jailed in North Carolina and Alabama.
Davis said a condition of his wife's release required she have a plane ticket home. He said he will keep working out options with an attorney when his wife flies to Syria Aug. 17.

What part of "required her to return to Syria for two years" did she not understand? I mean, these people come over here on a visa with certian rules and then they want to just stay, with no regard to the rules they agreed upon when coming over in the first place. She got what she deserved and now she's headed out of our great country. Thank you justice system!

This is good news! I can't believe the Feds are actually enforcing some immigration laws. They have got about 20 million more people to send packing. Why was this person still working at Clemson U. if her visa had expired? Maybe someone at Clemson needs to be prosecuted.
