Oconee County Sheriff’s deputies took down an alleged drug trafficker Friday on the well-known drug corridor of Interstate 85.

Giovanni Aszra Willingham of Powder Springs, Ga. was arrested Friday afternoon after a deputy on patrol pulled him over.

Reports indicate a deputy observed a blue vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, and after following him, clocked the driver at 80 mph in a 65 mph zone.

After the deputy pulled Willingham over, the deputy noticed an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. Willingham is reported to have been noticeably nervous, with uncontrollable jerking of his lip, pulsating of his carotid artery in his neck and shaking of his hands.

Deputies informed Willingham that due to the strong odor of marijuana emitting from his vehicle, they had probable cause to search it. A canine unit was dispatched to the scene, and two cardboard boxes in the trunk were found to contain several plastic bags containing roughly one pound of marijuana per bag.

Another small plastic bag was also found containing 133 grams of the drug.

Willingham was charged with trafficking 10 pounds or more but less than 100 pounds of marijuana, a first offense violation.

He is still at Oconee County Detention Center on $25,000 surety bond.
