WESTMINSTER Two separate May 24 calls in Westminster turned out to be related incidents involving a disagreement among ex’s and in-laws, resulting in two arrests.
Joyce Ann Pulliam and Charlie Franklin Jones Jr. were taken into custody Tuesday and booked at Oconee County Detention Center after sheriff’s deputies attained warrants for their arrest.
Reports indicate deputies responded to a call to 270 Beiman Long Road, Pulliam’s residence, in reference to a 20-year-old female being on scene and desiring to leave, but not being allowed to do so by several subjects.
A call then came in regarding a shooting incident at 268 Unity Church Road, and upon arrival, officers spoke with Kevin Scott Rasch, who said that at approximately 8:45 p.m. he had gotten a call from his ex-wife’s mother that her daughter wanted to leave the Beiman Long Road residence in question, at which point Rasch went with his uncle to that location.
Rasch told officers that upon his arrival, Jones gave them permission to enter the driveway, only to reach inside and attempt to pull Rasch out of the car. Rasch said he was able to fend off the 6’5’’ Jones, and officers noticed red marks around the victim’s neck and chest, as well as broken skin on his left knuckles and right arm.
It was at that point a grey-haired female is reported to have pointed a gun at Rasch.
Deputies then approached Pulliam and Jones at the Beiman Long Road residence. Pulliam admitted pointing a gun at Rasch and telling him to leave her property, firing a warning shot into the ground.
Jones, the father of Rasch’s ex-wife who wanted to leave the residence, told officers that he had already directed Rasch to stay away from his daughter. He then allegedly admitted to pulling Rasch out of the vehicle as he pulled up.
Pulliam’s gun was placed into evidence, a victim’s statement and witness statement were taken, and based upon the evidence, the responding deputy pursued warrants.
Pulliam has been charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, while Jones has been charged with simple assault and battery. Jones was released on a $1,092.50 personal recognizance bond, and Pulliam on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
