CLEMSON — In these tough economic times, everyone is looking to get the most bang out of their buck more now than ever — a service the Clemson football program feels like it can provide over the summer.
In the coming weeks, the Dabo Swinney Football Camp will be held in four separate installments, with a pair each of youth camps and high school camps being held on the Clemson campus.
And with plenty of hands-on coaching from the Tigers’ football staff, as well as some of the top Division I, I-AA, II and high school coaches from around the southeast on hand, Clemson director of strength and conditioning Joey Batson feels like the camps will be well worth the investment.
“In this environment economically, parents are having to pick and choose what camps they’ll do this summer, and they won’t find better instruction from the standpoints of discipline and teaching these kids how to work and learn about teamwork and responsibility,” Batson said.
Clemson will begin the camp season with two installments of youth camp, which is geared for campers in grades 2-8, which will run on May 30-31 and June 5-6.
The price for each of those sessions will be $185 for overnight campers, while commuters will be $155.
Check-in for the camps will be located at Gate 1 of Memorial Stadium from 8 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on the opening day of the camps.
The high school camps, geared for kids from grades 8-12, will follow on June 7-9 and June 10-12.
The cost for overnight campers will be $285, while commuters will pay $245.
Check-in for both of the high school camps will also be located at Gate 1 of Memorial Stadium, taking place from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m.
Batson said the camps would be a fun time for both the campers and the Tigers’ coaching staff, who are ecstatic about getting involved with the community for the camps.
But as expected, there’ll be plenty of hard work involved as well.
“It’s a lot of fun to get out there, but these are working camps,” Batson said. “These are not baby-sitting camps. We’re going to work them, and they’ll be busy from the time they wake up in that first day through the evening.”
