USC added another offensive lineman to its class last week, and also dropped one.

Du’Van Milsap (6-5, 300) of Buford, Ga., committed over Oklahoma State and Ole Miss. He also had offers from Clemson, Mississippi State, Louisville and East Carolina.

“It’s closer to home and it just felt like a better fit,” Milsap said.

While Milsap will be joining the large group of offensive linemen coming in next season, longtime commitment Elliot Williams of Georgia Military JC will not. Williams signed with the Gamecocks in 2008 but didn’t qualify, and he hasn’t made enough academic progress to be resigned. If he returns to GMA next season, USC will re-evaluate him.

Calhoun County offensive lineman Eric Mack, another USC commitment, has taken an official visit to Auburn and will visit Clemson Nov. 6.

“Clemson has made him a priority,” said a source close to Mack. “(Tigers assistant coach Chris) Rumph is coming after him hard. They talk weekly.”

Mack also will set officials with USC and Kentucky. He was at the USC-Vanderbilt game and will return to Columbia for the final two home games.

“The USC commitment is still good,” the source said. “I think he’s solid.”

Mack plans a return trip to Auburn for the Alabama game if he’s not playing in the State Championship game that day.

Beaufort linebacker Justin Parker was scheduled for an official visit to Colorado over the weekend. He went into that visit favoring USC, moving the Gamecocks back on top ahead of Clemson.

“South Carolina will always be the first camp I went to and the first school that offered me a scholarship my sophomore year,” Parker wrote in his weekly diary for the Beaufort Gazette. “I’ll always remember that and I can tell they are really committed to me. We’ll see what happens.”

Parker will take his official visit to USC Nov. 13, and he’ll visit Clemson in January.

More from the recruiting trail:

— Byrnes running back Marcus Lattimore made an official visit to Auburn over the weekend. This weekend he takes an official visit to Penn State. And he’s decided on

Oregon for an official visit Jan. 16. He’s non-committal about his final two official visits. USC, Clemson, Georgia and Florida State are on his list.

— Athlete Victor Beasley of Adairsville, Ga., is maintaining his position as a “soft” commitment to Clemson. He plans an official visit to Auburn, possibly Dec. 11. He’ll also take his official visit to Clemson. Beasley also has offers from East Carolina, Tennessee, Auburn, Louisville, Stanford and Southern Miss.

— USC has worked its way into strong shape with defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd of Philadelphia, according to his adviser Andre Odom. “South Carolina is definitely a legitimate option,” Odom said. “He has a huge relationship with the coaches. (Gamecocks assistant coach G.A.) Mangus is a great guy. They’ve been recruiting him since the end of his sophomore year.” Floyd has taken official visits to Florida, Southern Cal and Ohio State and an unofficial visit to Penn State. He’s planning to visit USC after his season and is also looking at North Carolina and Nebraska. He will announce his decision at the Army AA game in January.

— Wide receiver Marquel Wade of Jacksonville committed to Arkansas over the weekend while on an official visit there. He had narrowed his list to Arkansas and USC and had planned to visit USC for the Florida weekend.

— Defensive end Adrian Hubbard of Norcross, Ga., picked up offers last week from USC, Clemson and Florida State. He also has offers from N.C. State and Kentucky. Hubbard was at USC for the Vanderbilt game and had a chance to meet with Steve Spurrier in his office. Hubbard planned to be at Auburn Saturday for the Ole Miss game. He is looking at USC, Clemson and Kentucky for three of his official visits.

— Defensive back Victor Hampton of Darlington made another unofficial visit to USC for the Vandy game and had a chance to meet with the coaches (Lorenzo) Ward and (Ellis) Johnson. “They want me there,” he said. “They feel like I can be an impact player next year.” Hampton was scheduled for an official visit to Tennessee over the weekend but that visit was canceled. He plans to take his official to USC for the Florida weekend. He also has offers from Clemson, North Carolina, Georgia and N.C. State.

— USC has offered defensive back Chris Davis (5-11, 185) of Birmingham as a cornerback and he’s scheduled for an official visit for the Florida weekend. Davis also has offers from UAB and Arkansas State, and he’s also drawing interest from Auburn.

— Irmo running back Mustafa Green is hearing the most from Rutgers, Syracuse and N.C. State. And he’s having some contact from USC recruiter Brad Lawing. He is scheduled for an official visit to Rutgers Dec. 4.

— Athlete Sherard Cadogan of Cherry Hill, N.J., made a recent official visit to Michigan State. He’s also taken officials to Pitt, Wisconsin and West Virginia and is scheduled for an official to USC for the Florida weekend pending his playoff schedule. Cadogan says all the schools are equal and he plans a decision shortly after his trip to USC.

— Tight end Ethan Farmer of Tabor City, N.C., has not set his official visits but plans to with Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State, Virginia Tech and Tennessee. He doesn’t have a favorite.

— Linebacker Telvin Smith of Valdosta, Ga., plans to set official visits with USC, Florida State, Florida and Georgia. Smith has been committed to Florida State and has been to Tallahassee and Florida for games this season.

— Wide receiver Kadron Boone of Ocala, Fla., remains a Texas Tech commitment while pondering possible other official visits with USC one of those schools on his mind. Boone might come in for an unofficial visit for the Florida game with junior teammate cornerback Chris Johnson who is being recruited by the Gamecocks.

— Running back Jawan Jamison of Jacksonville, Fla., has a top three of Clemson, USC and Rutgers. The Tigers and Scarlet Knights have offered. He also has offers from Northern Illinois and Wake Forest. He has not scheduled any visits.

— USC is looking at defensive back P.J. Clyburn (6-2, 210) of Statesville, N.C., for an offer as a strong safety. He was at the USC-Vanderbilt game and has the Gamecocks among his favorites with East Carolina and Arkansas. He has offers from Illinois, East Carolina, Arkansas, Kentucky, N.C. State and some smaller schools. Clyburn also plays receiver.

— USC is waiting on test score information from linebacker Antoine Pozniak of East Syracuse, N.Y., before deciding on an offer. Pozniak likely would commit to the Gamecocks with an offer. This season he had 140 tackles and two interceptions.

— Defensive lineman Ainsley Miller of Concord, N.C., is scheduled for an official visit to West Virginia this weekend. He’s set for New Mexico Dec. 4. Clemson, USC, Nebraska, Virginia, N.C. State and TCU also are showing interest.

— Irmo quarterback David Olson is getting interest from Wisconsin, Virginia, Missouri and Ohio State. He was offered last week by Princeton and is also hearing from Wofford.

— Marlboro County offensive lineman Thomas Brown has an offer from SC State and is looking for more. He’s having some contact from Clemson, East Carolina and Maryland.

— Byrnes wide receiver Torian Richardson took a recent unofficial visit to East Carolina. He likes the Pirates, Mississippi State and Michigan State the most right now. He’s scheduled for an official visit to Michigan State Nov. 20.

— Quarterback Joey Carter of Ben Lippen is looking at Presbyterian, Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, The Citadel, Western Carolina and Kentucky Christian.

Basketball news:

— USC is on the board with its first commitment for 2011 in 6-9 Anthony Gill of Charlotte. “He’s highly skilled,” said his coach Shonn Brown. “He finishes well around the basket, and he can play on the perimeter. He slashes to the basket and handles the ball well.” Gill averaged 11 points and 8 rebounds per game last season. He drew interest from Wake Forest, Duke and Virginia Tech in the summer, according to Brown.

— 6-9 Mike Green of Ridge View committed to Tennessee State. Green had an early verbal offer from USC but the Gamecocks never pushed for a commitment. Auburn and Utah State also showed interest. Green averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds per game last season.
