FOR THE JOURNAL
Tara Batson
SENECA Seneca Health and Rehabilitation Center recently had the pleasure of having Ms. Tara Batson share her passion of painting with residents and staff.
Batson was born in Pickens County and attends Anderson University as a student of Interior Design. She attends Pickens First Baptist Church and has been attending that church her entire life.
She says that God put a song “Sweetly Broken” on her heart and that she just didn’t know what to do with it, until one night it became clearer. She was in a planning meeting for the summer services for her church and someone suggested that they find someone to do art work. She immediately began to “see” the art. Batson said, “I knew exactly what God intended me to do with that song.”
One Sunday night, she painted to that song a beautiful picture of Jesus on the cross. “I thought that would be the only time I would ever do the painting, said Batson. Obviously, God had other plans. He has continued to grow this ministry and constantly provides more opportunities to share what He is doing. She said that she loves to paint and will continue doing it as long as God leads her. Most of all, she just wants to go where God leads and share His ministry. “It is His ministry and His canvas, and I am just thankful that He has chosen to use me.” Batson was gracious enough to paint for residents and has displayed the art in the lobby temporarily for the residents and visitors to enjoy.
