I have noted your campaign to have taxes reduced and monies returned to the taxpayers. Normally I would agree with you, but these monies have been put aside for specific projects and needs.
I have to agree with Chuck Kormelink of Fair Play for the most part, except he forgot the new library that I am in favor of.
I lived in a county up north 40 years ago that was like Oconee County is now — rural. My former home is now in the middle of a city of 100,000 people — Columbia, Maryland.
Our council people here do not have a clue of what they will be going through in the next 40 years or maybe less time. We need planning, infrastructure, reorganization of services — water, sewage, electric, gas, road, schools, parks, etc. That takes money.
It is easier to reduce taxes than to increase taxes. Remember trying to increase sales tax one cent?
