WALHALLA Walhalla High School senior Easton Smith underwent successful surgery on his neck on Friday morning at AnMed Health in Anderson, according to Razorbacks coach John Boggs.
Smith is expected to return home this afternoon or possibly Sunday.
During the Razorbacks’ game against Abbeville on Oct. 9, Smith suffered two broken vertebrate in his neck during the first quarter, ending his high school career.
Smith, who has been wearing a neck brace, was a four-year starter at defensive end for Walhalla and played H-back this season.
For the season, Smith had rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 4.26 yards per carry on offense. He also had a receiving touchdown.
Smith also led the Razorbacks with nine tackles for loss, eight sacks and 16 quarterback pressures.
