CENTRAL — The Southern Wesleyan soccer teams both found success on Tuesday as the women shut out Brevard College 2-0 at home while the men defeated Faulkner 2-1 in a make-up game that was rained out on Sept. 10.

The Lady Warriors took advantage of a corner kick in the first half as Rosy Escobar played the ball to Meghan Bullock who was standing right next to her. Bullock played the ball back to Escobar who fired a shot in front of the goal which deflected off Katie Sullivan and into the back of the net to give Southern Wesleyan the 1-0 lead.

Escobar and Bullock were involved in the Lady Warriors' second goal. This time, Escobar had a free kick right by the end line and just outside the penalty area. Escobar sent a perfect pass to the front of the net that Bullock placed her head on and directed it into the net for the final goal of the game.

The Lady Warriors dominated most of the action, outshooting the Tornados 17-6. Brevard's Sydney Douglas made five saves while allowing the two goals. The combination of Sierra Threatt and Carissa McNab in the Southern Wesleyan goal held the Tornados scoreless while stopping all five shots on goal.

Meanwhile in Montgomery, Ala., the Warriors earned a much needed Southern States Athletic Conference victory, defeating the Eagles on goals by Henry Villafranco and Carlos Gonzalez.

The teams are scheduled to host Tennessee Temple today for a doubleheader with the women's game set for 5 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7 p.m.
