CENTRAL — Rosy Escobar, a senior from Houston, Texas, has been named the Beef O’Brady’s Student-Athlete of the Week at Southern Wesleyan University.

In the Lady Warriors’ 2-0 victory against Brevard College last Tuesday, Escobar factored in both goals by recording two assists. In the first half, she fired a shot in front of the goal that teammate Katie Sullivan directed into the back of the net. In the second half, Escobar took advantage of a free kick, crossing a perfect ball to the front of the net which Meghan Bullock headed in for Southern Wesleyan’s second goal. Two nights later, Escobar scored a goal and added another assist as the Southern Wesleyan defeated Tennessee Temple 10-0.

Escobar currently is tied for the team lead with five goals and her six assists are tops for the Lady Warriors and places her fourth in the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Southern Wesleyan will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Montreat College for their final non-conference game of the season. On Saturday, the Lady Warriors return home to host the Lee University who is currently ranked second in the latest NAIA poll. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
