WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Clemson’s Josipa Bek took down Reka Zsilinzska of Duke in the finals of the ITA Carolina Regional Championships on Monday. Bek, ranked ninth in the nation, defended her title against the 13th-ranked player, 6-4, 7-6. Winners of the Regional Tournament will be entered into the ITA National Indoor Championships, held in New Haven, Conn., from Nov. 6-8.
Bek won all six of her singles matches en route to the win of the tournament, including a win against teammate Nelly Ciolkowski in the final four. The match marked the second straight day Bek defeated Zsiliszka, as the Tiger knocked the Blue Devil out of the doubles bracket on Sunday to earn a spot in the finals.
Bek and senior Ina Hadziselimovic played for the doubles title, but fell to No. 5 Sanaz Marand and Sophie Grabinski, 8-6. Bek and Hadziselimovic are ranked No. 14 nationally, and had defeated four opponents before falling in the finals.
ITA Indoor nationals will be held on Nov. 6-9 at Yale University.
