October 27, 2009 - 12:15 a.m. EST

Calhoun County offensive lineman Eric Mack apparently is not going to allow USC to rest easy about his commitment, which he now considers as a “soft verbal.”

Mack said last week Auburn is now even with the Gamecocks.

“Both schools are good,” he said. “I could go to either one and play some my freshman year. I’m trying to make sure Carolina is the perfect fit.”

Clemson is also in the mix and Mack has scheduled an official visit with the Tigers for Nov. 6. He will also take officials to Kentucky and USC. He said he won’t announce a final decision until Signing Day.

Defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd of Philadelphia was scheduled for his official visit to USC over the weekend but changed that to a scheduled visit to Ohio State instead.

He plans to take his official to USC after his season. Floyd also has visited Southern Cal and Florida officially.

He is scheduled to visit North Carolina on Nov. 6 and is also considering Penn State. He took an unofficial visit to Happy Valley two weekends back. Floyd does not claim a favorite.

Linebacker Justin Parker of Beaufort planned to be at USC Saturday for the Vandy game. He was at Clemson for the Wake Forest game and is still favoring the Tigers slightly over the Gamecocks. He’s also looking at North Carolina, N.C. State, Colorado, Georgia Tech and Nebraska. He will set officials with Clemson, USC and Colorado.

More from the recruiting trail:

— Offensive lineman Max Garcia of Norcross, Ga., is scheduled for his official visit to Clemson on Nov. 6. A week or two later, he plans to have a decision between the Tigers, Maryland and Vanderbilt. Maryland is his favorite going into the final visit.

— Defensive lineman Ego Ferguson Jr. of Hargrave Prep (Va.) will take an official visit to LSU this weekend. He will visit Notre Dame Nov. 20 and will also take an official visit to Oklahoma. He’s undecided about his last two officials, but he will take an unofficial to USC for the Florida game. Ferguson also is considering North Carolina, Miami, Florida State, Maryland, UCLA and California. He plans to cut his list to five in about two weeks.

— USC offered defensive back Kenny Ladler (6-0, 185) of Atlanta last week and hope to sway him away from his commitment to Vanderbilt. Ladler is a safety and he plans to set official visits with USC and Vanderbilt. “Coach (Lorenzo) Ward said he’s bringing in one safety and four corners and I would be the only safety they bring in if I come,” Ladler said. He’s also planning to take an unofficial visit to USC for the Florida game. Ladler also has offers from East Carolina, Toledo, New Mexico and Western Kentucky.

— Defensive end Tavaris Barnes of Jacksonville, Fla., remains a Florida State commitment but will also take official visits to Clemson, USC, North Carolina and Georgia Tech. “I don’t even know right now,” Barnes said when asked how strongly he’s committed to the Seminoles.

— Defensive end Adrian Hubbard (6-7, 227) of Norcross, Ga., is back playing football this season after concentrating on basketball last season. He has been to Clemson and was at USC Saturday. Kentucky has offered and he’s also getting interest from Vanderbilt, LSU and Georgia. He also has offers from Tennessee State, Jacksonville State and Georgia State.

The Tigers have offered along with Duke, Michigan State, East Carolina, Louisville, Marshall, Navy, Elon and Appalachian State. North Carolina also is showing interest.

— USC has been in touch with tight end Kendall Montgomery (6-6, 240) of Miami and wants to see more film. He has been offered by Florida International and has a verbal offer from Purdue. He’s also drawing some interest from LSU, Florida State, Minnesota, Colorado State and Kansas State.

— Tennessee commitment wide receiver Ted Meline of Miami has been talking with Clemson and might end up taking an official visit with the Tigers. He’s also looking at Georgia and Purdue. He is scheduled for his official visit to Tennessee this weekend.

— Manning defensive back John Fulton was scheduled to be at USC for the Vanderbilt game on an unofficial visit along with teammate defensive lineman Phillip Dukes. Fulton took an official visit to Alabama for the USC game, a visit that was capped by breakfast at the home of head coach Nick Saban. “He doesn’t promise you nothing,” Fulton said. “He just gives you the opportunity. That’s all I’m looking for.” Fulton will take an official visit to Florida Nov. 6, one to USC on Nov. 13, and he’s scheduled for Michigan Nov. 27. He also plans to reschedule an official with LSU.

— Defensive lineman Ainsley Miller (6-4, 275) of Concord, N.C., took an unofficial visit to Clemson for the Wake Forest game and feels he’s close to an offer from the Tigers. He likes Clemson the most right now. His coach, former Panthers safety Mike Minter, has been in touch with USC recruiter Jay Graham about Miller. He’s also drawing interest from North Carolina, New Mexico, West Virginia, Nebraska, Virginia, N.C. State and TCU. Miller was scheduled for a visit to West Virginia over the weekend and is scheduled for New Mexico Dec. 4.

— Defensive back Dontrell Jamison of Garden City JC (Kan.) was scheduled for an official visit to USC over the weekend but that visit was postponed for academic reasons.

— Clemson commitment defensive end Corey Crawford (6-5, 245) of Columbus, Ga., will take his other official visits. “I want to make sure I made the right decision,” Crawford said. He was at Florida State unofficially for the Georgia Tech game. He wants to take officials to Florida State, Florida and Clemson. He’s also looking at USC, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Maryland, Southern Miss and others.

— Linebacker Caleb Crane of Centre, Ala., was scouted recently by Clemson and is hoping he’s closer to an offer from the Tigers. He’s planning an unofficial visit to Clemson for the Florida State game. He made an unofficial visit to Alabama for the USC game and he’s also hearing from Florida State.
