Willie,

There are two piles of brush on the sidewalk at the old Avondale Warehouse that have been there for over a month. Why does the street department not pick them up? It is beginning to get out in the road?

Willie says:

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If the street department doesn’t already know the brush piles are there and represent a safety hazard, somebody needs to tell ’em!

Willie,

What if 200 people show up at the same time to pay their taxes and are eligible for the high mileage? Are they staffed to have someone go check each car?

Willie says:

Of course not. You really think that’s likely to happen?

Willie,

How many times do the police have to come out to a house to get them to turn the loud music down before the offenders are punished? I have had to call them numerous times for this at the same location. I don’t understand people playing their music loud enough for the whole neighborhood to have to hear. Sometimes it makes my dishes rattle.

Willie says:

Some folks are so selfish all they care about is what they want to do, not how it affects anybody else in the world (especially those within earshot). You can’t turn a selfish person into a caring person. Willie does think the police might try not just giving warning after warning. Surely by now they must be due for a few fines after fines. Good luck.

Willie,

My wife and I went out to eat some breakfast one morning and let me start by saying the dress code for the employees must be non-existent. I ordered two eggs, toast, hash rounds and sausage. When the waitress brought me my plate, she noticed that they gave me bacon instead of sausage. Instead of taking the plate back, she gave it to me and said she would bring me some sausage. When she brought the sausage to me, she reached on my plate with her bare hands and took the bacon. When we where leaving, I asked to speak to the manager and he acted like it was no big deal. I sent this e-mail in hopes to get the word out because I just don’t think that is very sanitary.

Willie says:

As you see, I’ve taken out the restaurant’s name. But if any one ever sees servers acting like the one you encountered — run for the hills. Not only is it unsanitary — it’s the outside of BAD manners.

Willie,

What’s happened to the conservative mantra, “Government should be run like a business?” It seems to me the goal of a business is to turn a profit and no one can argue that the current county council critters have certainly turned a profit. If the money is to be returned to the taxpayers, how will distribution be determined? If real property is the criteria, Duke Power and the million dollar homeowners get a banquet of abundance. The rest of us will be lucky to enjoy a Happy Meal. Better the council start the projects the money was allocated for. Public works projects create jobs and jobs stimulate the economy and we all benefit when that happens.

Willie says,

You make some good points, but Willie’s poor brain is confused over why you wouldn’t want to give back to Duke and the “million dollar homeowners” in the same proportion to what they were taxed. That only sounds fair to me. Maybe Council could start a lot of projects like you suggest, and give some money back, too, if only in the form of a tax credit. Willie thinks they need to come up with a plan and do something!

Willie’

What’s with the four councilmen who can’t seem to go along with tax relief? If Mr. McCall can’t get a second from a fellow councilman, maybe someone from the audience should up and second his motion. Are the other four scared to have it up for discussion? This citizen believes there should be a rush of citizens filling the council chamber whenever there is a meeting. Looks like there needs to be another house cleaning.

Willie says,

A lot of people are wondering why councilmen Thrift, Dexter, Suarez and Corbeil don’t agree with McCall. Willie thinks your idea of filling the meeting room with citizens wanting answers would get action, though.

This is so typical of the mindset with so many people these days. We shouldn't give the money back to the "million dollar home" people. We should spend it so they don't get a "banquet of abundance".
They pay most of the taxes. Why wouldn't you refund at the same rate? Redistribution of wealth at its finest.

floridaboy I agree with you 100%. While the idea of starting the public works projects the taxes were intended to fund is, in my opinion, the best idea, if the money is to be returned it should be refunded at the same rate it was collected.
