CENTRAL — Meg Donaldson, a freshman from Camden, has been named the Beef O'Brady's Student-Athlete of the Week at Southern Wesleyan University.
Donaldson, who was running in only her second collegiate cross country event, finished in third place at the Salem College Invitational last Saturday. Her time of 22:13 was 15 seconds behind individual winner Tyrah Winfrey of Winston-Salem State University. More importantly, Donaldson and her teammates ran a terrific race as a team and came home with a second place trophy in the 12-team field. The men's cross country matched the ladies by bringing home a second place trophy as well.
The Southern Wesleyan Cross Country teams now can look forward to a home course advantage in their next race as they participate in the Warrior Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 26. The meet will be the first of many athletic events on that day which will highlight the university's 2009 Homecoming festivities.
