Clemson's 12-player baseball recruiting class was ranked No. 9 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball on Tuesday. Arizona State was ranked No. 1, while Oregon, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and Georgia rounded out the top five. CLEMSON — Clemson Baseball Head Coach Jack Leggett announced the addition of former Tiger All-American Michael Johnson to the coaching staff on Wednesday. Johnson, who will work primarily with the infielders and hitters, will serve as the Tigers’ volunteer assistant coach. What’s happening to Lake Hartwell?

The lowest level ever recorded on Lake Hartwell was in 1981 at 642.4 feet above sea level. Subtracting from Hartwell’s normal elevation of 660 msl, that was a little over 17½ feet low. According to projections on the Corps of Engineers’ website, that record will be broken sometime next week. The drop in water levels on the entire Savannah Chain has left local and area residents with a lot of questions.

There are several initiatives to get kids into hunting, but they just don’t seem to get the publicity--probably because hunting involves weapons and killing. But I will admit that I do keep an eye on the calendar for the approach of October. For those outdoors enthusiasts in the Upstate, October comes in with a bang and goes out with the rut.
