Eula Carter Owens, 87, wife of Carl Wickliffe Owens, of 147 Avalon Drive, died Tuesday, May 6 at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 8 from the Chapel of Davenport Funeral Home, Walhalla, with burial to follow in Oconee Memorial Park, Seneca, S.C. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today, May 7, at Davenport Funeral Home. The family is at the residence.
A native of Oconee County, Mrs. Owen was the daughter of the late Howard Daniel and Sarah Denny Carter. She was retired from Chicopee Manufacturing Company and was a member of Turning Point Church of God where she was a faithful member of her Senior Ladies’ Sunday School class. Mrs. Owens was a compassionate and caring person who was devoted to helping others.
In addition to her loving and faithful husband, Mrs. Owens is survived by daughters Joan Yearwood and husband Malcolm of Gainesville, Ga. and Linda Stephens and husband Roger of Salem, Ala.; sisters Rubye Nichols of Walhalla and Coda Smith, Allene Bearden and Ovaline Matheson and husband Clyde, all of Westminster; grandchildren Jay Yearwood, Julie Bowman and husband Jeff, Titia Sargent and husband Kiley, Dana Stumler and husband Darrell, Mandy Haber and husband Jamie and Robert Stephens and wife Amanda and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by brothers Grover Carter and Luna Carter and sister Letha Long.
