William Clinton “Bill” Barker, 78, a former long-time resident of Walhalla, died Tuesday, May 6 at Greenville Living Center.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at 11 a.m., Friday, May 9 at Oconee Memorial Park. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to College Street Baptist Church, PO Box 340, Walhalla, SC 29691. The family is at their respective homes.

A native of Walhalla, Mr. Barker was the son of the late Charles Edwin and Sudie Harvin Barker. He was a former employee of Duke Power Co. and Walhalla City Cab Co. Mr. Barker was a graduate of Wofford College and a member of College Street Baptist Church.

Mr. Barker is survived by sons Charles S. Barker of Seneca, S.C. and Walter C. Barker of Pensacola, Fla.; stepbrother Rev. Mike McGee of Spartanburg, S.C.; sister Nell B. Hardie of Spartanburg and stepsister Joan McGee of Walhalla.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Barker was preceded in death by brother Charles D. Barker and stepmother Lillian McGee Barker.
