CENTRAL, S.C. — Howard Robert Pitts, 75, of 3522 Six Mile Highway, husband of Eloise Smith Pitts, passed away Tuesday, June 30 at Dorn Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 3 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens in Pickens, S.C. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be at the home.

Born in Westminster, S.C., he was the son of the late Robert Pryor Pitts and Helen Martin Pitts. Mr. Pitts was a clockmaker and also worked in textiles for over 20 years. He attended Six Mile Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Rickey Pitts of Columbia; a sister, Mary Ann Pitts Smith of Westminster and a brother, Truett Pitts of Westminster.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Pitts and two sisters, Bevenia Pitts Parson and Virginia Pitts.
