CLEMSON, S.C. — Marvin P. Cannon Jr., husband of Margaret Kendrick Cannon, died Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, S.C.

The family will be at the home. A memorial service was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at Pendleton Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Morton White and the Rev. Wyatt Aiken. A graveside committal service preceded the memorial service. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers any memorials by made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or Clemson Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1415, Clemson, SC 29633 or to the charity of your choice.

Born in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Marvin P. and Hazel Huddleston Cannon. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Brooks and Sheri Cannon and one grandson, Cameron Cannon of Anderson.

Mr. Cannon graduated from Greenville High School in 1945 and Clemson College in 1949. He served in the United States Army for three years before being honorably discharged in 1957 as first lieutenant. He worked at the Southern Bleachery, Louis P. Batson Company and for many years at J.E. Sirrine Company from which he retired.

He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville for many years serving as deacon, elder and soloist in the Sanctuary Choir. He was a charter member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Taylors.

After retiring and moving to Clemson in 1985, he was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Anderson. At the time of his death, he was a member of Pendleton Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Cannon was involved in music throughout his active life. He sang in the Greenville Chorale and the Quodlibet Singers in Greenville, as well as the Anderson Chorale and the Foothills Chorale in Clemson.
He served on the boards of Clemson Meals on Wheels and the Salvation Army in Greenville.
