GREER, S.C. — Rev. Alton F. Bell, 68, of 103 Gregory Drive, died Oct. 30 at McCall Hospice House.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 at Apalache Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Lamar Breazeale and the Rev. Eddie Cooper. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Greer.

A native of Oconee County, son of the late Willis and Corine E. Smith Bell, he was a U.S. Marine veteran, owner of Advanced Pest Control for 15 years and a member of Apalache Baptist Church. Rev. Bell was a retired Baptist minister having pastored churches in Gaffney, Blacksburg, Spartanburg,
Greer and Duncan. He served as president of Broad River Pastors Conference, Greater Blacksburg Ministerial Association and The Greater Greer Ministerial Association.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Jean Sims Bell of the home; a son, Michael Alton Bell of Greer; a daughter, Sandy Shane Bell of Travelers Rest, S.C.; two brothers, Rev. Fred W. Bell of Albany, Ga. and Rev. D. Frank Bell of Cosby, Tenn.; a sister, Freda L. Bell Parker of Seneca, S.C. and four grandchildren.
