Call the animal shelter & police daily and consistantly about the little dog being mistreated. Maybe they will do something if they get enough calls. It breaks my heart to hear this.
The McKinney Homeless Act was probably put into effect to protect those who were rendered truly "homeless" by the hurricane Katrina! I do not see how that can be argued as a valid point in reference to the initial question asked! We should have everyone provide immunization information.
Do not stand in the road! If you are hit by a car and are not in a pedistrian designated area, you will be the one negligent for your own death or injury and the pain and suffering of your family. Drivers have a responsibility to be aware of what is going on around them but realistically in the dark the possibility that they do not see you until it is too late is very high! I have lost a loved one to a night-time traffic fatality two years ago and my family will not be the same. I cringe everytime I see someone walking on the edge of the road or not using crosswalks. Be careful folks and use common sense. On the other hand, it seems that OMH could set up a bench area for smokers. Or maybe sit in your car for a break as someone else suggested.
Remember folks, SIX times! He had 15 aliases, so he wasn't trying to be a honest, hard working, contributing member of society but was living in a deceptive way. I certainly agree that employers have a responsibility to not hire illegals and should be seriously fined.
I cannot believe this guy got into the US, SIX separate times! This speaks volumes for the illegal immigration problem that is not properly being addressed. Valuable services and time were provided by the police as well as rescue squad.
To the parent who recommends I take my child to another school, your attitude proves my point. If a parent goes to a school with genuine concern and questions regarding a health situation in the school, the nurse and/or administration should have the courtesy to LISTEN and TRY to seem sympathetic, NOT rudely and abruptly interrupt and say something inane like, "This is just media hype and not a concern". To some parents the health situation may not be a concern but it was for me. Also, when the parent calls the school and ASKS for information and is told the information will be sent home with the child, every effort should be made to follow through! I do not dislike JMB, the nurse or administration but rather the insensitive way the matter was handled and more personally the way I was brusquely treated when inquiring.
