How could our school board take an $11,000 donation for "job well done" and blow it on a cook out when our schools need medicine, copy paper, lights running, etc. The judgement up there is very questionable. This education thing is not about them, its about the children. I still can't believe our school board gave that answer as a reason. Another thing, if there are any other donors out there ready to start handing out money, walk it directly to a school and hand it to the PTO where the administration can't get to it. Good Lord this really worked me up today.
openup, Talk about being worried what your VP candidate will say. Didn't Biden tell us all that Roosevelt got on the television during the Depression? OK. Televisions weren't around yet and Roosevelt wasn't President. Open mouth and insert foot. Biden is always good for a laugh.
Let me throw something out to this McCain Obama thing and let you guys flame away. Obama stated today that he wants to cut capital gains tax for small business. Everyone cheers and thinks how great it will be for the thousands of small business owners across the country. Guess what. Small business owners don't pay capital gains taxes. They pay income taxes. Obama seems to say alot about nothing. Will he soon help renters by reducing their property taxes?
Backpacks? Okay, I have couple of comments regarding this person's letter to Willie. First, as stated by openup and clemsonjosh the backpacks were for Oconee county elementary school children. No questions were asked about income level before you picked one up. I have two children that are elementary school age, so I picked up two backpacks and donated both of them to the elementary school so they could distribute it to who really needed them. Perhaps this person in the photo was doing the same thing. It is so nice that someone like Mr. Crosby would donate these supplies to children. My second comment is about the phrase "less fortunate". "Less fortunate" makes it sound like people have money because they are lucky and people don't have money because they are not lucky. People who take education seriously, work hard, and have a sense of responsibility towards their family will do just fine almost always. Luck has nothing to do with it. I'm done venting. Have a fantastic day.
I completely agree. But, you know Willie's response to this will be , "Well, why do we have to be like other countries?" Personally, I feel it shows respect to our citizens and our country. Of course if they had respect for our country and our citizens, they would enter legally and pay income taxes on whatever pay they receive. This influx of illegal immigrants has put a strain on all of our resources (schools, roads, police, etc.) with no end in sight and on top of that we have to learn their language? Let me get this straight Willie, they come here illegally, pay no taxes, recieve benefits from the gov't and get free education, and citizens (you and me) have to foot the bill through increased taxes and learn their language. That's just insane.
A dress code needs to be created. If you just tell parents to dress their children "appropriately", that could be interpreted several ways. As a parent, I love the idea of making school clothing shopping very simple if I'm told what they have to wear.

openup,
Do you have children in Oconee County School right now?
