So, you thing it's all about looks? I think the folks writng the letter were going a little beyond looks. I believe they were talking substance rather than beauty or lack thereof. I certainly hope everyone does.
Bill worked with our crew back then during the summer months and Christmas break on a part time basis. Not only was he a superb athlete, he was a fasinating young man to talk to. He was intelligent to the extreme. He knew what his major was going to be, and believe me it wasn't some major that would have afforded a bunch of crip courses. He already had a plan for what he wanted to do in life after football, and I have no doubt he would have played on Sundays for a long time barring injury. He always had a smile on his face and had a great sense of humor as well. For the next few years, after his death, when the summer guys started, somebody would always say "I wish 'ol Bill was coming back, too". Thanks West Oak for honoring him like this. I know he would have been proud, but he would have been embarassed too, because he was always so low key and humble.
I only have one question. I have read that he had to "admit guilt to some extent" to enter the PTI program and another time a paper said "no guilt is implied", so which is it? If he had to admit any guilt whatsoever, he shouldn't be a part of the team, but if it's the other way around, Mr. Bowden has no choice but to let him play, because legally he hasn't done anything wrong. I would like to know what the requirements are to enter the PTI program.
concernedinkeowee, I want to apologize for all my ribbing yesterday. I was just having fun, because usually it's the liberals who complain about us conservatives resorting to name calling. It seemed I couldn't help myself, but I was wrong to do so. Today, 9/11, I thought about how in '01 when we all came together as AMERICANS how good it felt. I'm ashamed of how we have become such a divisive nation. The old saying "united we stand, divided we fall" has never been such a wake up call for us as a country as it is today. Wake up folks, as I did this morning when I listened to the tributes to 9/11. I feel like something has went terribly haywire with our thinking. We seem to hate each other if we don't think the same. From this day on let's all be not democrats and republicans, donkeys and elephants, or liberals and conservatives, lets be AMERICANS. Our foes once said they would conquer us without firing a shot, well they're well on their way to doing it when our great nation is as divided as it is today. I read comments from all you good folks daily and I know we all want what's best for America, so let's quit bickering amongst ourselves and turn our anger toward the real enemy who hates us for what we stand for. Please, everyone, join me today in putting a stop to our fueding with each other. As Bluto said in Animal House, "who's with me". 9/11 made all the difference to me, how about you?
Ain't none of us been talking about skin color. You seem to have lost your train of thought. You were tring to take us to task about Mrs. Palin. Like I said, take deep breaths and, get you a paper bag if need be. We'll try not to upset you anymore than you already are. Maybe you need to see someone about that temper of yours. I think they call it "anger management". My folks always called it " keep your mouth shut if you don't have anything good to say". You have a goodun, now, and don't get so het up. It's bad for the blood.
