On Voters to decide history

I am "a Christian, a person of love and compassion" and I could never vote for Obama. Electing Obama will be a huge mistake.

God does love everyone, but He doesn't approve of everythinbg we do. Everyone knows that God loves even the sinner, but won't admit that Gods hates the sins they commit.

On Letter to the Editor: Who is this guy?

Things certainly have gotten worse in the past two years. Two years ago we were still in pretty good shape.

I know all of our problems didn't just start two years ago, but our democrat controlled congress sure did nothing in the past two years to improve America or prevent the economic collapse we have now.

I am not pleased with a lot of things done by President Bush, but most of our senators and congress people haven't done anything they can brag about.

When I hear a democrat or any other politician say that Bush tricked them into voting for something they were against or that he manipulated them to do something they now regret, I can't help but think they are saying, "I'm not as smart as President Bush." I guess you do have to give them some credit for admitting they were easily deceived and couldn't handle their job.

When most politicians say Bush has done a bad job they leave out the fact that they haven't done any better.

It would be nice if the candidates could talk more about their accomplishments and plans for American. I guess if you haven't accomplished much and you have no good plans for the future you have to spend most of your time complaining about someone else.

We only have two choices in this election and that is bad and worse. I am voting for McCain, the bad choice, because I just can't find any reason to vote for Obama, the worse choice.

God help us all.

On Letters to the editor: Give Obama-Biden ticket a chance

I'll have to give Obama and Biden credit for being smart enough to fool most of the people most of the time.

Some highly educated people are the cause of a lot of our problems. Education without common sense, honesty and integrity is nothing. A lot of education just enables a con man to get more people to buy into his schemes and scams.

I can't understand how anyone who listens to the candidates and does some fact checking cannot realize that McCain and Palin are the lesser of the two evils in this elections.

On Judge upset over live Internet feed of Inman proceedings

If I was Judge Miller I would want some answers fast.

My first question would be, Who set up the mic to broadcast over the Internet and why?

My next question would be, Why wasn't the mic turned off after it was detected?

My next question would be, Did Ariail really inform Bannister what he had learned and advised him not to speak in proximity to the live mic?

My next question would be, Why did Bannister disregard that warning and went over there and talked anyway?

My next question would be, Did Bannister intently talk with his client with the mic on to set up a reason for a mistrial?

If Bannister knew the mic was on and braodcasting live over the Internet and tried to use that for grounds for a mistrial maybe he should be charged with misconduct.

On City cutting ties with Chief Sheriff

I think the possibility of having another stroke would the main thing to consider. If the medical tests showed a high possibility of more strokes, police chief wouldn't be the best job to have.

Maybe the doctors' reports, all of the evidence and the statements of those envolved should be made public.

On Phil Noble commentary: Why Obama will win South Carolina

I don't think anyone should ignore a candidate's record and never even wonder if he/she has any qualifications for the office they are seeking.

Too many people in this country vote for a candidate only because of their party affiliation.
Too many people vote for a candidate because Oprah or some other celebrity said they are voting for them.
Too many people vote for a candidate only because they have the support of the Kennedys .
Too many people will cast their vote in this election based only on their racial preference.
Too many people will vote for a candidate they don't really like if he/she makes a few promises that they can't make good.

No one should only use one or all of the above reasons to pick a candidate when they cast their vote, but too many people will.

On Oconee State Park

I have a friend that lives in Northeast Tennessee in an area rich in historical places, parks, lakes, camp grounds, lots of attractions and many wonderful places to visit.

Her boss often brings his family to the Oconee State Park for part of their summer vacation, because they enjoy it so much.

With the price of gas, this would be a good year to discover or rediscover our local parks and attractions when we take our vacation.
