The School District of Oconee County Board of Trustees held their Work Session at Walhalla High School. Cody Willis, a 4th Grader at Blue Ridge Elementary, opened the Session with the Pledge of Allegiance. Highlights include an update on the Board Policies Revisions from Pat Kinsey of the SC School Board Association, a presentation by Laura Barlow of the American Heart Association, and an update on the Healthy Venture Program by Misty Lee. The District recognized the donation of Band Tuxedos to Tamassee-Salem Middle/High School by Mr. Williams. A group of Nursing students from Clemson University shared results from a research project they conducted at Walhalla Middle School on tobacco product use. Sheila Grant of the Hamilton Career Center received an award for SC New Career and Technology Instructor of the Year and an award for Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher. Following public comment, the Board approved several action items on Policy matters.
